Breakup Poetry

Nothing puts you in a poetry mood like a good breakup, so here’s some breakup poetry.

We both saw it coming so it may seem.

As my scars can attest, we crashed and burned.

It was all so surreal, a vivid dream,

But we had fun doing it, and we learned.

We didn’t hold back or play sedated.

No thinking. That comes later. Much later.

Just pure passion, unadulterated.

Our love tore on like a diesel freighter.

The fuel has been burned, and hotter then Hell.

The flame’s flickered out but hot coals endure,

And with a little stir, perhaps they’ll swell,

But until that day I’ll seek a new cure.

I don’t care if you think this sounds sappy,

I sincerely want you to be happy.
