MLB Winter Meetings Better than Christmas

Dear Santa:

My favorite time of year is here: the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings of general managers and presidents. And Minnesota Twins fans actually have reason to believe you’ll visit us this year.

Relatively speaking, I’ve been pretty good this year. I haven’t been arrested, and I gave up chewing tobacco and smoking. All I want for Christmas is for Twins’ new president of baseball operations Derek Falvey to fill my Twins stocking with starting pitching.

I know it’s a lot to ask, but if you can pick up Brian Dozier, give him a lift to Los Angeles and bring back left-handed starter José De Leon or Kenta Maeda, Yadier Alvarez, and left-handed reliever Grant Dayton or the like, I would be eternally grateful. I hear Dozier will attend the Winter Meetings in Washington, D.C. starting Monday.

Also, if you could convince a few strong-armed relievers to play in Minneapolis the next few seasons, that would be great. Other than that, I’m pretty happy with the roster. I just never want to see Paul Molitor bat his best home run hitter in the leadoff spot ever again.

Oh, and thanks for Jason Castro. I’ve been crying for a catcher who can frame pitches since the Twins signed Kurt Suzuki. Glad you could swing that one early. It might give pitchers a reason to come to Minnesota.

Sincerely,
